Building

The afternoon children took the blocks out today and decided to build some fabulous creations. We have had a new train donated and Aston put it together then Mitchell decided to put buildings in its way so that it crashed! Aston, Lucie and Poppy found a star and used that to make a Christmas tree.

They all played cooperatively and shared the resources. There was lots of love on the carpet this afternoon!

The Santa train!

Today was an amazing morning of child initiated play using their imagination to engage all their friends in a fabulous piece of learning developing lots of areas of learning. Our morning children decided to get on the Santa train. Heidi said we were going to see Santa and Elliot told us that we had to go to The North Pole. Obviously Miss Frisby used this opportunity to get some mark making evidence and told them that only good children could go and they needed to write their names on the good list. The blanks list were all ready as they had shown an interest in this last week so Miss Frisby had made a ‘good’ book and a ‘not so good’ book. Everyone was in the good book. Yay! Although Livia decided that her sister Lente’s teacher, should be on the ‘naughty’ list. So she wrote her name on the sheet and off we went to tell her! I’m sure Mrs Mallaby will be good from now on!

Miss Frisby found a bell like the one Eliana has and everyone was deafened as various people rang the bell with all their might. Daisy shouted ‘all aboard’ and rang it so hard that the middle of the bell fell out but don’t worry, Miss Frisby fixed it! Miss Frisby supplied a Santa hat which the driver of the train wore and they efficiently organised chairs so that everyone could fit on the train. They loved it and the writing and language opportunites were amazing.

Decorating a tree on Tree-mendous Tuesday!

Today we went into the woods and we decided that we needed to make it look more Christmassy so we decorated a tree. Have a look the next time you are in there!

We also received an individual letter from Santa. They are in their book bags so have a read!

Trip to Bethlehem!

What a fabulous trip we had today. The children behaved fabulously and thanks to all our amazing helpers too.

It was a long way to Bethlehem and every inn was full but eventually we met a grumpy innkeeper who let us stay in his stable. Baby Jesus was born and the kings and shepherds came to visit and we were all very happy!

Lunch was a highlight too! Then we made Christmas crafts that the children will bring home this week.

Melting snowmen and our trip.

Well, I must have known that we have been forecast snow because I had decided to make melting snowmen with our friends!

There has been snow forecast for tomorrow. I have spoken to Perlethorpe and most of the driveway will be cleared if it does snow but we might have to walk part of the way down in their wellies which they will love. We will wait and see what happens on Monday but as long as the roads are clear then we will be going. I will take hot chocolate for them to warm them up and some treats! Make sure they wrap up warm- tights, socks and trousers, tops and jumpers, gloves hats, and scarves. They must come in their wellies which we sent home.

It will be lovely as we have visited many times and Keith who leads it is wonderful! We are the only school there on that day and have the classroom all to ourselves. Exciting!

Christingle

We learnt so much about Christingle this week.

The orange represents the world.

The red ribbon is a reminder that Jesus died.

The cocktail sticks represent the four seasons.

The candle reminds Christians of Jesus, light of the world.

The sweets or dried fruit represent all of God’s creations.

They were so sensible when we lit them. What a lovely day!

What a fabulous Nativity our children put on today. It was full of cuteness and made us smile loads- not always for the right reasons! Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoyed it too! Until next Christmas! But I know I’ll keep singing the hymns for ages yet!
