The story telling chair!

Miss Mace has also decorated our reading chair where a child can sit in the reading area to tell their friends a story. Tommy showed us how it was done and took a book from the reading area and by looking at the pictures, he told his friends the story. It was lovely to hear! Send me any pictures or videos of your child reading books at home and I will show all their friends. Enjoying books and reading stories from a very early age is crucial in the development of children. It helps with their ability to understand words, use their imagination and develop their speech, as well as being something they really enjoy. So get reading and record it in your reading diaries. If you have four entries in a week then your child receives a stamp. When they have four stamps, they receive a certificate and a prize.

Happy reading!

Star of the day

We love to celebrate our children’s successes because we value what they do and we want them to know that. So over the holidays I bought a stool and the very creative Miss Mace decorated it for me. I also used some more pennies to buy a no expense spared crown! Every day we choose a child who we think has done something extra special because we know they are all special but it’s about being super kind or helpful or doing something in their learning that they have never done before or using a new skill that we have taught them. They receive a certificate, get to sit on the special stool and get a prize from my prize basket which is the ultimate thing when you are three and four years old!

They are all so excited and ask every few minutes, ‘Am I star of the day today.’ Or hug their friends constantly when I am in their eye line because they think this will clinch it!

Numeracy

We have been counting using lots of counting rhymes. we particularly enjoyed the one about five little monkeys who were swinging in a tree but got eaten by Mr Crocodile!

Practise your counting at home and look for numbers when you are out and about so that you learn to recognise them.

Suretots

Today we participated in our Suretots session and had lots of fun. Isabella recognised all the colours of the hoops. Mrs Fenton tricked us and asked us to jump in a purple hoop but there was only one so we all had to snuggle together! It was cosy!
